What happens next:
• Assessments: An Occupational therapist will conduct a comprehensive home assessments to understand your current and future needs, your daily routines, and the physical environment of your home.
• Recommendations: Following on from the assessment, we will recommend specific adaptations and modifications, such as ramps, widened doorways, accessible kitchens and bathrooms, and assistive devices.
• Design and Planning: We can also provide advice on the design of your new home or renovations to ensure its accessible and adaptable for you from the outset.
• Training and Education: We can demonstrate to you and your family members or carers how to use equipment or use adaptive techniques in your home.
• Collaboration: We work closely with other professionals, such as architects, builders, and social workers, to ensure the successful implementation of housing adaptations.
• Specialised Knowledge: We offer expertise in various areas, including:
o Access: Improving entry and exit to the home, including ramps, automatic doors, and step lifts.
o Mobility: Enhancing indoor and outdoor movement, including widened doorways, stairlifts, and through-floor lifts.
o Daily Living Activities: Supporting activities like bathing, cooking, and using stairs.
o Assistive Technology: Recommending and training on the use of assistive devices and technology.
o Inclusive Design: Advocating for inclusive design principles in new builds and refurbishments.
